Dishwashing Detergent Costs

To determine the real costs of dishwashing detergent, I tallied the amount of dishwashing cycles I got from using one bottle of a gel dishwashing detergent. I could've weighed the dispensed amount and calculated the costs by the bottle amount weight, but didn't do so to maintain real-life conditions of varying dispensing amounts.

Using the gel detergent is about 25% cheaper than the least expensive detergent pack of the same brand. This isn't life savings amounts. However, I do thing these "new" cleaning products are only marginally better product (if at all) with higher costs are necessary to cover the marketing and over-manufacturing. Something to consider when you are confronted with that next household supplies advertisement.

Also, the cleaning power of the gel worked well for dirty dishes with the exception of avocado remnants.
